MDEC x BSN: A New Era of Digital Empowerment for Youth

MDEC and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) just signed a major strategic partnership aimed at empowering Malaysia’s youth through the Next Gen TeenXChange program. Announced on 25 July 2025, this fresh collaboration is all about nurturing digital talent and building a digitally literate and financially savvy generation.

This move builds on MDEC’s long-running Digital Ninja initiative under its #MyDigitalMaker movement but now with stronger industry support and national reach, especially through BSN’s expertise in financial literacy and youth development.

What’s Next Gen TeenXChange All About?

Think of it as Malaysia’s digital leadership bootcamp for teens aged 15 to 20. It’s not just another tech camp, it’s a talent accelerator shaping future-ready youth.

Key features include:

  • Digital skills training using emerging technologies
  • Leadership and communication development
  • Financial literacy powered by BSN
  • Exposure to real-world innovation ecosystems
  • Inclusivity: open to students from all backgrounds

Since its start, the program has empowered over 675 participants, with a strong female representation, more than 250 young women now leading innovation in universities and industries.

Why It Matters Now

With Malaysia’s digital economy expected to hit 25.5% of GDP by 2025, upskilling youth is no longer a “nice to have”, it’s a national priority.

“This isn’t just a talent program, it’s a strategic investment in Malaysia’s future,” said MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil.

“We want a generation that’s not only digitally fluent but also globally competitive,” he added.

BSN echoed this sentiment, highlighting its commitment to developing young Malaysians who are both digitally and financially literate.

What’s Next for TeenXChange?

With BSN onboard, Next Gen TeenXChange is set to scale up nationwide, targeting more schools and communities across the country. Expect deeper curriculum integration, more hands-on tech learning, and stronger mentorships between youth and industry players.

This is more than just an MoU, it’s a movement.
